 Republic of Liberia, normally called Liberia (the name comes from the word "Liberty"), is a country located in the western part of Africa. It borders on Guinea, Sierra Leone, and the Ivory Coast.
The capital is Monrovia (named after the 5th President of the United State, James Monroe), being a country created by slaves freed in the US, created in 1847, being the second oldest country in Africa, after Ethopia. With the 2 civil wars lasting over 10 years, it has become a country full of war, totally without any order, however, on October 11th, 2005, the 1st presidential election was held under the interim government. With the results from the final poll on November 23rd, where Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the former African Chief of UN Development Planning, became the first women president of an African nation, and subsequently, the public safety stabilized, where currently, they are building relationships with various countries in order to develop their economy.
